EXHIBITION IMAGES | WORKS | PRESS RELEASE
OCTOBER 3 – NOVEMBER 15, 2015 | Opening reception: 6 – 8 pm, Saturday, October 3 Halsey McKay is pleased to present a project with Takeshi Murata. The works in this series are drawn using a pen and tablet in Photoshop, then silk-screened with multiple passes to stack UV inks. The drawings represent the environment around Takeshi’s upstate studio, early 19th century industrial architecture, 20th century hand built houses, and the spectral iPhone and laptop screens floating around the foreground. The amalgamation of technology and nature, ever-present in his life, has informed both the subject of this work and his working process.
Takeshi Murata’s work is in the collections of DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art, Athens, Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami, Palm Springs Art Museum, The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C., and The Smithsonian Museum of American Art in Washington D.C. Most recently, Murata’s work has been included in group exhibitions at Palazzo Delle Esposizioni, Rome, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Paris, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and Bergen Kunstall, Bergen. He is represented in New York by Salon 94.
